Who We Are

Forest Home Baptist Church was established deep in the heart of Kilgore, TX in 1889. We have continued to build upon our strong foundations over the last several years by building a Children's Education Building, a large multi-purpose facility which includes a gym/fellowship hall, an 1100 seat Worship Center, and a state-of-the-art facility for our Student Ministry. God has been extremely active in the life of Forest Home over the last 134 years. There has never been a more exciting time to be a part of His plan for this body of believers than right now. Members of this church are united around the pursuit of God's Will for how we can all be used to bring honor and glory to His name in Kilgore, East Texas, and throughout the World! Come find your church "home" with us and experience the love of God displayed through His children as you enter the doors! Our Mission

Forest Home Baptist Church exists to proclaim the "good news" of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all people. Under the leadership of a pastor who always preaches about the Cross on Calvary, the church intends to carry out that same message to all who need it. We strive to keep every ministry and event centered around that mission.

The inspired Word of God teaches us that the greatest commandment is to "love the Lord your God with all of your heart, soul, and mind." It is the goal of Forest Home to instruct every believer to live by this commandment. The Scripture goes on to provide the second greatest commandment which is to "love your neighbor as yourself." This commandment is what leads our church to be a body of believers that welcomes every person to join us. We desire to show the Love of God to everyone that we come in contact with, as we do our best to make Forest Home feel like a "Home" to every member and visitor.

The Bible continues to inform Christians that "if we love God, we will keep His commandments." So in keeping with the greatest commandment, which is to "love God," we must also obey the last commandment Jesus Christ gave to the church before He returned to Heaven. This is known as the "Great Commission," which commands us to "Go and make disciples of all nations." Our mission as Christians and as a church is to fulfill this commandment.

  • We must "go" to the lost people in the world and share with them, how they can be saved with a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. This is central focus of all of our activities at the church.
  • We must go to "all nations" and proclaim Christ. Forest Home Baptist Church has received numerous awards from the Southern Baptists of Texas Convention for being in the "Top 10" in giving to Missions in the state of Texas. We place a high priority on spreading the word to all nations
  • . We must "make disciples." We also focus on teaching the members of the church in order to guide them into a more mature and growing realtionship with Christ! We accomplish this task through our Sunday School classes, small group Discipleship Training classes, and various ministries set up to minister to individuals on a much more personal level.

There is no greater purpose in life than carrying out the Mission that God has given you and here at Forest Home, you will find a group of believers who are serving the Lord faithfully by pursuing the fulfillment of the commands given in His Word.
